Intervista Flash: Senses

Thank you for having us! Senses were formed in September 2022, but our journey in the underground music world began much earlier. All the members have been part of the Greek rock and metal scene for several years, playing in various bands and projects. When Senses came together, the goal was to revive the spirit of 80s glam metal and AOR, but with a more modern approach. We aim to blend the nostalgia of that era with the freshness that the new age can bring.

Our sound is heavily influenced by glam metal and AOR from the 80s. Bands like Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, Whitesnake, and Judas Priest are huge for us. But we also draw from the energy and aggression of Metallica and more modern metal bands. We want to keep the melodic, emotional feel of that era but with a fresher, more modern sound.

Our debut album, Out of Line, was a labor of love. We worked with Bob Katsionis, who really helped us bring our vision to life. The album combines catchy melodies, powerful guitar riffs, and heartfelt lyrics that explore themes like love, loss, and personal growth. Tracks like "Under Your Spell" and "Silent Disco" are good examples of that blend between classic 80s rock and a modern, energetic sound.

We believe so. While the 80s influence is undeniable, we aren’t just recreating what’s already been done. We’re mixing that nostalgic vibe with modern production and contemporary lyrical themes. We aim to stand out by combining the best of both worlds classic and new so listeners can connect to something familiar but still feel like it’s fresh and relevant.

Cosa pensate del panorama underground nazionale?

The underground scene is thriving. There are so many talented bands and musicians who are passionate about their craft. It’s competitive, but it’s also a community where people support each other. We’re proud to be part of that scene, and we’re excited to see how it continues to evolve.

There’s nothing we’d really want to erase every experience has shaped us. But what we’ll remember forever is the process of creating Out of Line. It was challenging at times, but the satisfaction of completing it and getting such positive feedback was worth it.

The internet has been a game-changer. It’s allowed us to connect with fans not just in Greece but all over the world. Social media, streaming platforms, and sites like Bandcamp are essential for getting your music out there. However, with so much content available, it can also be hard to stand out. That’s why building a real connection with your audience is key.

Visto che ne stiamo parlando.... quanti CD originali acquistate ogni mese? E quanti ne ascoltate?

We're all huge music fans, and while we listen to a lot through streaming, there's something special about owning a physical album. I’d say some of us buy two or three CDs and vinyl records a month, and we try to support both local and international bands. As for listening, we're constantly discovering new music, whether it’s something modern or a hidden gem from the past.

When we grow up, we want to take Senses as far as we can. We’re working on new material, planning our first live shows, and we’d love to play festivals and tour internationally. Ultimately, we want to be a band that people remember not just for the music, but for the energy we bring to the stage and the connection we create with our fans.\r\n

Ok, ragazzi!

First of all, we want to thank everyone who has supported us so far! We’re just getting started, and we can't wait to share what's coming next with you. To everyone reading this interview: keep supporting the underground music scene, go to shows, and discover new bands. There’s so much great music out there waiting to be heard. Stay tuned, because Senses have much more to show you!
